Rumors abound of a familiar red tricycle being sighted pedaling around Arthe Dale. Could this be true? Has he returned? And How will Gabela explain, the one tart a day period which she was subjected to? Let us all rejoice in the return of the Dale's first Thane and one of the greatest halflings to ever grace the realms. Squirt is back!

Don't miss the first Olvi gathering with Olvi Fial in the Common room at the Arthe Hollow Inn. Everyone is invited, but only topics relating to Olvi issues will be discussed. The gathering will start at 5pm ET on Sunday, April 15th. Refreshments will be served. No transportation will be provided to the gathering, that's what you have those 2 big hairy feet for. <<The gathering will start at 5pm ET on Sunday, April 15th.>> As in, Easter??? Ai ai ai. I'd be there if I could, but it would take, umm... a miracle? I'd say save me a tart but look what group I'm talking to! Olvi topics huh. Hmm, how about Glythtide Gala, Sunday April 22nd (plug plug plug!). A little bird told me Arthe Dale should try to put a bid on the Seerah for our own personal Olvi use, I thought that was pretty funny. Rascalt's not the only one who has seen a little squirt around, that should be good for some gossip. Anyone who shows up should see if Fial has a new smoke image to teach you? Here's something--any thoughts on what we could do as Olvi for those Olvi who's worlds DON'T revolve around picnics and concerts? I'm looking for an Olvi Bard and Cleric to help us kick off the Glythtide Gala next week. I've talked with Gabela, she doesn't think she can make it. I haven't talked to the Elothean Cleric of Glythtide Starsha yet, but I swear she's Olvi at heart. And anyway, all races are invited. That's it off the top of my head. Ilityn and Noah, who I met at Melindrha's wedding to Tirsten last weekend (awesome Meli!), sorry I haven't been in game much this week, I've got family from out of town staying with me through Monday. <<So Squirt may make a come back.... Ponders Thane voted in by a landslide --SOIM>> Since I know Soim reads the halfling folder, I thought I would reply here and not in the Thieves Den: Gee, thanks Soim, I knew I could count on your vote! ::poke:: A few other points of interest, since I knew the topic was bound to come up sometime from somewhere: 1. If Squirt told me he wanted to be Thain/Thane again, I'd step down in a heartbeat. 2. The position has always been appointed, albeit sometimes self-appointed. 3. Since accepting Rascalt's appointment in November 1999, I've invested a lot of time in promoting Olvi interests. If you look at the return on investment in terms of # of players my actions made a difference to vs. time spent, it would be laughable if DR weren't such a fun and addictive game. However, in terms of the rp opportunities that were opened up for Mykk, the investment is priceless. 4. I spent a fair chunk of time at Fial's meeting yesterday making sure GM Fial, GM Morzy (new Olvi champion), and the other players present realize there is a large Olvi contingent out there who are not into picnics, concerts, or foothair beads, who are just as dedicated to their roleplay as the aforementioned group is, and that their opinions and efforts should be given just as much consideration. I try to look out for ALL Olvi interests, including as I see it, stat-halflings, combat-halflings (and other non-picnic goers), and fluff-halflings (not meant as an insult to the picnic goers). 5. The fluff-Olvi I know don't wear pink tights, as you suggested in a post several months ago ::grin:: A post I didn't reply to because even as you picked on "us", I sensed a mutual respect from you. Hopefully we still have that mutual respect, Soim, I know I'd be crazy not to appreciate the fact you chose the halfling race. --aka Mykk Reply |

I just got this contract: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Trading Contract Issued by: Dirge The guild office at Leth Deriel requires 19 barrels of pickled Halfling feet, to be delivered within about 8 anlasaen. The bearer of the goods and this contract will receive, upon safe and timely delivery of the merchandise, a payment in the form of the local currency. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You estimate these goods are currently worth 5548 Kronars on delivery. I don't know about you guys, but those Elves in Leth owe us a BIG explanation! I'll probably be cross posting this in the trader folder, but I think our champion should maul Godrich and Kaikyu first. Shaunn, It is spelled as: Thain Thane, I believe, is a Norse word, and while we may like to envision ourselves at times as large, lumbering, viking-types (is that a clear visual?), we're probably better off with a word that sounds nice, but is different. Thus, Thain. As far as a story goes ... I'm trying to keep a low profile for the time being. When I feel myself worked back into society, I'll share what I've been through. Hello everyone. Coming from the "better late than never" department, I offer you this summation of Fial's first Gathering from April 15, 2001. It's more heavily edited than my usual work, ie, I've smooshed Fial quotes from here and there into one place, left out a couple things I thought were repetitive, re-arranged the order, etc. Also, usual message board policy dictates not putting up conversations from GMs, but since it was a public forum, I hope I'm not stepping on any toes. If the post gets yanked, I won't cry at my keyboard (unless it gets me an RPA, heh), I'll just re-do a summary sans quotes. --aka Mykk *************************** FEET, FEET, FEET: TOE RINGS: Fial says, "not right now, but maybe in the future, for toes wearing stuff. Setting up a slot like that is very difficult." Fial says, "but we'll see." TOE WIGGLING: Fial nods. FOOTHAIR STYLIST "MERCHANT": Fial says, "maybe." WILL FOOTBRUSHES BE AVAILABLE AGAIN: Fial says, "yep." FOOTWEAR: Fial nods. Fial says, "sort of like an ankle adornment or legwraps." Fial says, "no one is saying you can't wear shoes or boots. even I have when it has gotten extremely cold to protect my feet. But generally I prefer my feet bare." Fial says, "but that's me." Fial says, "its an idea, will explore the possibility." POUCH WORN ON FOOT: Fial says, "noted, We'll look into it. Its a good idea." TANNING AND FOOTWEAR: Fial says, "could happen." Fial says, "we'll have to bring that up with the ranger folk." OLVI WHO WANT TO SHAVE FOOTHAIR: Fial says, "if we get a foot hair thing going on, that can happen. and Olvi who decide to wear some sort of shoe or boot, may have bald spots." Fial says, "where the footwear rubs off the hair." HUMAN GUARD AT ARTHE DALE VILLAGE GATE: Fial says, "well there's this problem." Fial says, "its hard to keep an Olvi guard there." Fial says, "everyone we have had keeps wandering off." SMOKING IMAGES: Fial says, "well I have this huge project I have been working on." Fial says, "its called alchemy/substances." Fial says, "Lots of pressure for me to get it done from all sides." CITIZENSHIP: To summarize, Citizenship is not Fial's domain, but I gather Citizenship is a work-in-progress, so as it stands, Halflings and/or Arthe Dale MIGHT get something someday. MORE SIZE-RELATED VERBS: Fial says, "good idea." Fial says, "I agree." Fial says, "unfortuantly most of the verbs are not my domain, so I have to get permission to fiddle with them, or ask to have them changed." Fial says, "and somethings seeming so simple are sometime not." FRECKLES: Fial says, "there are a couple new verbs in the works, which you should see shortly, that I think you will approve of." Fial says, "its possible" Fial says, "but the cream would be like the anti-beard cream." Fial says, "if you depart, it needs to be reapplied." WEAPON SIZE BEING RACE SPECIFIC: Rascalt says, "And for my last comment of the day, I've been plugging this with all the race champions and they LOVE the idea thus far... Weapons should feel different for different races, An ME should be HE for halflings, LE, ME, and we could have our own LE we share with gnomes, and our LE to togs and kaldar would be toothpicks, and 2HE would be like a 3 Olvi weapon." Fial snorts, loudly. Fial says, "can't argue with you there." Rascalt says, "Solomon said it was possible if there was enough interest." Rascalt grins. Rascalt says, "So I'm trying to spread interest amongst the race champions." Fial says, "but until something drastic happens with combat, I don't see it happening." Fial says, "but as soon as we can do it, I'll push very hard for it." Fial says, "The weapon thing may happen, but most likely not. Should of been that way from the start, and it would be very very difficult to change it. But I can't rule out the possibilty." Fial says, "its not likely to happen anytime soon, but if it does, we'll figure something out to make it fair." HALFLING QUARTERS IN EVERY CITY: Shaunn says, "Are there special quarters for Olvi in every major city? I know we're supposed to be everywhere" Shaunn says, "I haven't thought to look for it specifically" Fial says, "almost every city." Fial says, "you look around you will find some Olvi living there." Fial says, "may not be defined as like Riverhaven." RACE-RELATIONS WITH GOR'TOGS: Shaunn says, "I was wondering, the histories say we are supposed to be pretty close to the Gor'tog race, right? Like friendly and such" Fial says, "yep" Fial says, "but there's exeptions to every rule." Fial says, "hopefully there will be some more books on that in the libraries." Shaunn asks, "Is it possible for us to get some sort of special verbs in regards to them then?" Shaunn asks, "Maybe like wax their heads if they're sitting?" Fial says, "we will discuss it with the race team and Tog gurus." Fial says, "but good idea." OLVI SHOP: Fial nods. LANGUAGE AND HISTORIES: Rascalt asks, "Language and Histories... The dwarves just got their books, is anything in the works for us?" Fial says, "in the early planning stages." Fial says, "dwarves got that for a very good reason, which I can't dicuss here." REGULAR MEETINGS: Fial says, "Ok. we're going to try to have some sort of meeting or event every six to eight weeks, but don't hold it to me." NEW OLVI CHAMPION MORZY: Fial says, "Morzy is more on the events side, while I'm more on the coding side of things. Though we both cross the line some." FIAL'S PRIORITIES: Fial says, "about 80 percent of my current effort is on alchemy and substances. Until thats working, thats my priority." Fial says, "once that is done, then I can do more Olvi related things." MENU: On the tart cart you see an iced pitcher of cool taffelberry-flavored milk, a mushroom and bacon tart, a chocolate tart filled with cherry sauce, a creamy caramel pecan tart, a tutti frutti goblin warrior lollipop, a hogshead of chilled iceberry grog, a crispy taffleberry tart, a cherry tart dripping with gooey white frosting, a savory lobster tart, a sweet apple tart sprinkled with cinnamon, a candy troll-foot, a large ceramic tuilp-shaped bowl filled with frothy Tulip Julip punch, a sticky rum raisin tart, a savory venison tart with a spicy leek sauce in a flaky pastry crust and a savory sage and onion tart. LOOKS: GameMaster Fial Fadail, a Halfling. He has violet eyes, wavy dark brown hair with a white streak running through it that is loose, and dark brown skin. Fial has transcended time. He is in good shape. He is wearing a leather aventail, a leather helm, some gloves, some leather greaves, a chain shirt, a plain portable hole, a narrow braided leather belt with small flasks hanging from it, a journey pack and a gold badge. GameMaster Morzy Chudwuj, a Halfling. He has black eyes, thinning white hair, and fair skin. Morzy has transcended time. He is clean shaven. He is in good shape. He is wearing a pair of berry-stained knickers with bright red suspenders, a lime green linen shirt with purple pockets, a dark brown leather shoulder satchel with a gold buckle and a solid gold toe-ring set with a sparkling tart-shaped ruby. >l lokta You see Magnate Lokta Dabou, a Halfling. He has green eyes, short thick golden hair that is loose, and fair skin. He is a daydreamer for a Halfling. The above is from a fellow Halfling looking at me. I had not ever heard the the term "daydreamer." I asked a couple non-Olvi, they both said I still looked young. ::sigh:: I was hoping to be in my prime before I left, but I suppose there is no prime for an Olvi. My INFO is as follows: Gender: Male Age: 35 Circle: -- You were born on the 37th day of the 6th month of Arhat the Fire Lion in the year of the Silver Unicorn, 329 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer. Maybe this isn't a surprise to other people, but it is to me. I started Lokta in October of 1996. He may have been a "daydreamer" for a while, since I've not really played for the last couple months. The variance in starting ages out of the character manager take a little of the fun out of it, but "Daydreamer" is definately my favorite "title" in the game! Interesting side note: someone explained to me, and it seems to be true, that you get the age-title Daydreamer on the YEAR of your 35th birthday. Mykk was born in the 5th month, and it still shows he's 34, but because we are in the Elanthian year of his 35th birthday, he got the title. Hope that makes sense, --aka Mykk Reply |

One day Olvi will rule the lands and have the largest city. Whats out pitfalls? Strength. Wisdom Disipline Well Strength it's one of the fisrt stats I stopped trainning and I waited till 35. Most stop by 20 or 30. Wisdom and Disipline or not much use after 40 or so really now. SO we are nutral in charisma and Intel. Nothing wrong there. We get a perk in Stamina and Reflex, gotta love that. And a Double perk in Agality. <<I have some serious questions. 1) Who is Squirt? 2) Is their a government of Arthe Dale already set up? 3) If so whose in charge? 4) Where can I find out more? 5) How do I take my place in the ranks? Sincerely, Caltrop >> Hello Caltrop, I caught the tail end of your thread in the Citizenship folder. No, we can't be citizens of Arthe Dale at this time, only Zoluren. This probably won't change, but you never know. First off, there's not all that many posts in this folder, probably the fewest of any Race folder. If you have the time, could be good reading for you if you want to get involved. Get to know some of what's gone on in the past, see some names, that kind of thing. Now, to try to answer your questions specifically: 1) Squirt = first Thain of Arthe Dale. Actually, I figure there were Thains before him, but he would be the first player-Thain of Arthe Dale, and he *did* originate the term, including purposefully twisting the spelling of Thane to be Thain, thus creating a sort of Elanthian term. Because he was the first, and beloved by all the old-time players, he is still the most famous Olvi and Thain there is, and will be. Legend status if you will. The second Thain was Rascalt, who passed the mantle onto my character, Mykk a year and a half ago or so. 2) Government. Depends on your definition. Of all the races, I feel Olvi (halflings) are the most independent and anti-government/anti-structure group of them all. It works for us. Doesn't work so well for getting us together at events, but that's just the way it goes. 3) Who is in charge. You might say me (Mykk), as the current Thain. There is also Phangor, the current Mayor of Arthe Dale. Again, read past posts for detailed explanations, there is a handful of them, easy to pick out by the post headings, too. "Olvi Politics" comes to mind. The caveat here is that these are arbitrary, player-created positions, and only hold what weight people who rp them will have. And personally, the one serious, underlying OOC/IC agenda I play with Mykk as Thain, is keeping Olvi a free and independent race. Sort of an anti-government government. I know that's contradictory, but like I said, it kind of works for us. 4) Finding out more. Read the folder. Start highlighting names on your list so you see them in game easier. Say Hi to a couple of them. One thing about halflings and their players, we have a good reputation for roleplaying. There are some stat-thieves who might not, but that's a given with any race. And actually, a lot of the so-called stat-thieves are good rp'ers too, I've found. Mykk tries to make himself very available to any Olvi anytime, though having spent the good portion of a real-life year in Arthe, I must say Mykk and I are both thoroughly enjoying our vacation on Aesry. 5) Taking your place. Well, up until not too long ago, there was another Olvi paladin named Eadain, who may very well still be around, not sure and haven't seen him lately. He also felt like he was the only one. He chose as his paladin-honor-duty thing to be a paladin of Glythtide and Arthe Dale. That was a fine path to take I thought for a halfling paladin. But it's up to you. You can be as active or as inactive as you want, and you'll still be "family". There are Olvi like Soim and Gabela, who rarely get involved in specific activities, but are awesome resources. There are others like myself who rarely miss a halfling-related event, I've even run a couple. But the cool thing is we all kind of look out for each other. --aka Mykk, not very good at short posts Reply |

::pokes and harasses Mykk, which is what she's good at:: Yeah, what he said, and this: According to in-game sources: We're for us, first, last, an always. The others wanna squabble over who owns the land, fine. When they finish killin each other over it, they'll find that they have Olvi tenants who settled there a while ago. We'd be able to take over the world, pretty much, but that's too much like work. By the way, work is bad, creating smoke shapes, drinking and finding new food recipies is good. We're spread out, Theren to Shard to Aesry. Oh yeah, and we appreciate nicely trimmed foothair. ::winks:: Melindrha ((Throw yourself into it, wherever you feel most comfy. Houses and knolls are no more expensive in the Dale than anyplace else, 5 plat I think. Halflings consistently come in at 3% of the active population. Say for instance could I have my true home in Arthe Dale and then my summer place on the islands?>> You have to be premium to own a house/knoll/whatever, 90 days in fact I believe. You can only own one. Some people work around that a couple different ways. One, you can always get a second premium account, Simu will love you ;-) Otherwise, every house owner gets one key to give out to someone, which gives them access to your home. So you may have a knoll in Arthe Dale, and your wife might have a summer home on Aesry which you have a key to. But ultimately, one home per premium account. <<Oh ya, and where is the best place to get some tarts in the Crossing/Arthe region?>> Not sure, could probably get some more help on that one. I know of at least one food website now. My two favorite standards (chocolate and apple) are for free in the Arthe Hollow Inn in Arthe Dale. On Ratha I believe is an amazing selection. They are all over really. I tend to get mine at special events like weddings and such, then tuck a half dozen in my backpack for when I need a snack while I'm hunting. <<And Mykk is a good representative of the bunch. Hey, I've been bugging everyone asking them questions and now I've got some more stuff to post about. I've got a friend whose a dwarf (at least he's not too tall) and hes part of the Stone Clan. They seem to get a lot more benefits cause they are in an organized group. I thought a halfling group of some sort would be equally beneficial. Not sure what it would be called or anything, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Also, I was wondering where everyone lives. I've got all the high level halflings highlighted but the only one I've ever seen is Soim. If you all live in one particular region I'll happily move to be with the crowd. I run into the ones I know everywere. Still we are only like 3% of population and around 30% of us are thieves with a decent amount of empaths. So think like a thief or empath and you have a better chance of seeing more of us. Soim Reply |

There are 3 major towns you'll find halflings in. Crossing <check the thief guild, empath guild, and ranger guilds> Aesry <older halflings go there for vacations> and Arthe Dale. Arthe is swarming with them <g> Most of us have homes in either Arthe or Riverhaven as well. Check the empath guild, Dunshade manor, and deer trail in Riverhaven... In Aesry, the bank, the playhouse, Blood wolves, and Uyns, most are found in Uyns cause that's where we get our kicks <g> But like Soim said, most of us can't stand to be in the same place for a long period of time. Just ask my wife, I driver her up the wall <g> One day I'll be in shard, the next I'm in M'riss, and the following I'm up in Theren. She has decided she'll follow me around the mainland as long as its not Theren and she refuse to goto the islands unless I promise I'm staying there for at least 2 weeks <g> As for becoming an organized group... Not gonna happen... Unless you manage to bring plenty of tarts, and booze to keep us coming, halflings are much to free spirited to organize and meet on a regular basis, we prefer to have spur of the moment parties and just roam about. It was tried once, <snickers> failed miserably. Rascalt, Black Fox Locksmith Reply |

Greetings everyone, I'm going to stick with OOC, just easier. First, it's good to see and feel some Olvi enthusiasm coming around again. Just seems to be how it is (the ups and downs), but actually once you get used to the idea, it's pretty cool to not have to be "on" all the time. I still say we're a pretty free-spirited race, puppeteered by some pretty free-spirited players. As Rascalt mentioned, the idea of weekly meetings, while nice to think about when you see what Hegemonic did with Stone Clan, just don't work well for us. Dwarves=organization/groups, Olvi=wanderlust/individuality (in my opinion). I'm recently coming off of about a month-long break myself, due to a distinct increase in my social life, so no complaints there. Seems to have given me some new enthusiasm for the game and Mykk too, so it's all a good thing. When DR gets you down, take a break. You'll either come back refreshed or not come back, a signal that it was just your time to leave. Heh, going to be another long post, isn't it. I have two ideas I've been developing for us Halflings to get together and enjoy a little community spirit. The most recent one has to do with Griffina on Aesry. She's become an enemy, maybe even player-enemy #1 of some (GMNPC) necromancer Althiras working some bad-guy stuff (trying to kill Councilor Urdain) on the islands. He's killed her once, and threatened her life again. I happen to be good friends with the following Olvi all on Aesry right now (last I knew): Griffina, Fizzia, Hipcrey, Razzleberrie, Rascalt... and I think there are a couple others I've seen like Ascot that I don't know as well but are out there. I'm thinking it could be fun to come to Griffina's aid, and spearhead a Halfling Resistance movement on Aesry <g>. Naturally there will be other resources we can work with, our non-Olvi friends and the Iron Circle come to mind. Griffina doesn't know this idea yet, and she hasn't been online yet today for me to ask, but I'm sure she'd laugh and think it was great. The second idea kind of fell in my lap courtesy Bubbinster and the Official Order The Tavern Troupe. They recently held a raffle, where for a 2-plat ticket, you bought a chance to win a Tavern Troupe deluxe package worth at least 20 plat. Guess who won?!!! It comes with several songs, a play, even a custom song (or maybe play). While it's veeeery tempting to make them all come to my knoll to perform for just Fizzia and myself <g>, I pretty much have to share this, right??? I'm a patient person, so have been just kind of biding my time with this one, but the idea in first place so far is this. Basically, another Short-People's party with the Dwarves and Gnomes. Mykk has partied in Arthe with this group, and had a great time. Mykk's also partied in Stone Clan. What I'd love to see happen is for the Gnomish Village to get completed and released in-game, and use my free Tavern Troupe performance to celebrate this. If any Gnomes have any feedback on this, I haven't gotten around to posting in your folder, so I'm not sure if this event is around the corner or another year or two away. Those are my ideas, I'm always open for other ideas, especially when someone else like Teminesca takes charge and I don't have to do any of the work! Caltrop, you seem pretty into all this, I hope you stick around. As far as your question about the oldest and most powerful Olvi, tough call. Oldest in terms of how long the same player has played the same character, of active players, might be Squirt, but since he may have retired (again), maybe Gabela? Most powerful of course depends on your definition. Mykk respects Gabela maybe the most, and she's like the 3rd highest cleric in the lands. In terms of strength, it's gotta be Soim. In terms of combat, probably our hero Soim again. I was at Rock and Eyoni's wedding, and the Olvi Dseth won the no-rules combat tournament. Wonn is pretty high level I think, wouldn't surprise me if he didn't kick some butt. Tough for me to say, since I don't hang with the higher circle folk. Sorry for the long post everyone, --aka Mykk, aka Thain of Arthe Dale ps, just talked to Griffina, she's into us getting together, even though with GM-run events the coordination can be hit or miss depending on who is online, and also informed me Hipcrey walked on accident the other night :-( Reply |

Have to agree with mykk. The players who choose to play dwarves seem more suited for what we do, and the players who choose to play Olvi tend to be scattered all over. However, I've always thought about how the races would prefere to meet, and in my mind the wanderlust must give way to nostalgia time to time, and end up being a huge party were everyone decides to get together. Best thing I think in my outsiders opinion is to pick a day to get together every IC year, a day of celebration for whatever reason you all feel is Olvish enough to warrent it. That way ya'll can get together every 3 RL months and just pah-tay. Hegemonic Reply |

I should've avoided the question about who is the oldest and who is the most powerful Olvi, because lists are invariably incomplete. Well since we went OOC I'm gonna talk for a little while :) First of all I was wondering about what circle you are Soim?? Second, the parties sound great and the sooner the better. Third, what is the absolute smallest critter you can hunt on the Aesry? and last if the dwarven leader is reading this, you need to give Mahkrin a promotion or something. He is awesome, very kind to newbies. Now this last part is incredible long, so read at your own risk and don't operate heavy machinery afterwards. :) I think I've got a pretty good percpective on the game itself. I started playing 5 years ago when AOL had it for free. I played for about 8 months then. At that time all of my friends played and it was a blast. I played a halfling ranger named Pontas who was first level and had 70 ranks in longbow (back when you were a novice forever until you got 2nd level) I was around when Shard opened. :) That was fun. I think I take the award for first person to have their head squished by a gargoyle. Anyways when my friends quit I got bored and also quit. I came back somewhere in between then and now when I heard through a friend they opened a new continent. I played for about a month after the free trial, had a 10th level barbarian made to see the islands, never made it cause I got so bored. Coming back now I realized what made the first time so much more fun. My friends. So when I came back this time I decided to try something new, and to get involved in the game, not just level pushing. I'm having a blast. A lot has changed, and I'm looking forward to getting a horse. <grin> -Caltrop, Halfing Paladin Extraordinare Reply |

<<First of all I was wondering about what circle you are Soim??>> Not sure what bearing that has on anything but if you read all over boards then you know all about me, my skills and my stats. I am one of the most unsecretive players in game. I play and compete with myself. I don't fear who is ahead of me or better than me. I am not in a race or out to compete except with my own goals. Overall I am a happy player and I have fun and could care less whos is higher or badder. Why because I know I give 100%. See howe easy it is to play a game and have fun. Just stop worrying about everyone else. Except when thy try to steal your thunder or abalities beause they want to get something for nothing. Examples being able to see you hide whenever they want or protect thee pockets just because they want to. Sure there or skills to do that but some folks don't want to train they just want the silver plater pollished there way and placed in there lap... Well I am sure in a babbling mood today.... Your answer: Soim 75th Circle Strength : 35 Reflex : 36 Agility : 40 Charisma : 25 Discipline : 36 Wisdom : 36 Intelligence : 36 Stamina : 40 Nothing great and nothing lame I strive to be a jack of all trades and well rounded. Greetings fellow Olvi! Some of you asked, "When's the next party?" While I don't know of any Olvi-specific parties, there are a couple good opportunities on the horizen. I'd like to tell you about these now, I know I'm not the only one who appreciates a little advance notice. First, as you may have heard, Elsbette and the Gnomes are putting together a party in Shard. It's going to be August 26th, which is a Sunday evening, 6pm eastern time. I should be there, and have offered to help if I can. It will be held at Fayrin's Rest, and will be featuring a Drinking Songs contest for bards under 16th circle. There will be other performers too, but the contest itself is just for the younger bards. For more details, you can contact me, or wander over to the Gnome folder, I'm sure Elsbette would be happy to help you. Even if you're not performing, should be a good party! Second, and this is 7 weeks off, but promises to be big... I've hooked up with the Tavern Troupe to help bring to Elanthia "Woodstick", a 2-day music festival! It will be held September 21st and 22nd (Friday night and Saturday), location to be announced. I'll bring you more details as they come, but mark your calendars now, and don't say I didn't give you notice! In fact, Daerlynn has this little advertisement to pass along: ****************************************** We are seeking performers to audition for a large event coming up on September 21 and 22. Do you have an act you think audiences would enjoy? Have you a duet you sing? or a juggling routine? A dueling display? or perhaps a ritual you pray? Do you have a story to tell? or a play you do well? A dance or a stomp? or a limerick romp? Then make it a mission to come and audition posthaste without fail send an email! Seriously, if you have any type of act listed above.. or anything else (a magic show, a comedy routine, etc.), please contact daeriynn@aol.com to set up an audition time. ::Elsbette rummages around in her brightly painted wooden Gnomic message box, pausing for a moment before resuming her search:: I've had absolutely no one sign up for the contest portion of our event (did I mention there would be cash prizes?). So if there are any bards (or creative non-bards) who would like to perform a song in the concert or contest that evening please send me an e-mail. It looks suspiciously like we are going to have a concert and no contest. We have Xaphira (Elothean) who is scheduled to perform a song she wrote about the Gnomes, and Anliis (Gnome) who is working on a drinking song as concert performers. We're hoping for a nice mix of bards and people of other races at our party. Yes, we will be providing drinks and tarts. Elsbette Reply |

If, it wasn't hosted by the Shard gnomes, I'd be there, but I refuse to have anything to do with that group as a player, so Rascalt won't be making an appearance. And its nothing against you Elsbette, it has to do with comments other members made towards close friends of mine.

Yes, we have our first brave performer for the drinking song contest and she's a Dwarf. Syrath Bahlahnck, Dwarf of the Stone Clan is now signed up for the contest. We don't need prizes to know we are the best. We just know it. The dwarves can have their trophies, but they will never mean much cause they will know the only reason they won, is cause an Olvi didn't feel like wandering in.

I'm not sure what comments those were and I don't make a habit of getting involved in other peoples personal quarrels; especially when both parties involved so obviously lack the maturity to resolve their differences themselves. I will continue to invite Halflings to events we organize since I'm sure that most of the others who read this board have no desire to involve themselves in your personal quarrels either. Don't think anyone will really know the difference but after 9 levels as the only halfling paladin, I've decided its not worth it. Its too hard to get my stats up. Halflings are ill suited for being Paladins. I have decided to switch over to a ranger. I think they have more to offer as a guild, and it makes more sense as a halfling. Besides Caltrop always had a thing for raccoons (not just in tarts). I'll see you all around, and I hope to make all those parties. :) (This is just so I feel like someone knows whats going on) :) -Caltrop Reply |

Someone told me the other day that there are tons of Olvi Empaths all over the place, and that they were starting to become a sizable chunk of the population (of empaths). Yay for us, but anyway, I can't think of more than a handful, myself included. I always just thought there were a few of us to heal the members of our race who suffer from HoJ and other such detriments of the racial pastime. If anyone could tell me who the Olvi Empaths are, I'd like to know. Off the top of my head I can only think of myself, Razzleberrie, Melindrha, Mingold and Martee. Ya I was kinda depressed that I gave up, but I didn't really look forward to getting anything in the Paladin's guild after halt. They got rid of the completely working off the hinderance thing (at least not until super high levels) and frankly, I need instant gratification. :) I'm pretty sure patience isn't a halfling trait. Besides I get more verbs, and I missed being able to hide. I suppose now that I'm not a paladin I won't make a good sheriff of Arthe Dale so I'll have to find another position. Bother way, I got in a pissing match (can I say that?) with some high level paladin the other day who said he was the right hand man of the prince. Basically, he became a fixture in front of the Aesry bank. So much so that I knew if Mykk went to Aesry, he knew there was an Olvi welcoming committee. He could always count on a heal, and if anyone was in trouble on the island, Grayrn would grab a cleric and come running. Grayrn fell victem to the "different soul-same body" disease. A few months later, a new empath arrived on the scene named something like Grayren, with a personality remarkably like the original Grayrn's... However, I have not seen either lately. <<Are their any halfling instruments?>> The description on the Syrinx in the bard shop on Aesry states that it's "a traditional Halfling instrument"... it's a wind instrument on the second notch of difficulty (harder than whistles, but easier than flutes) <<If I could convince Royce to make the village an in town area . . .>> I really don't think that's an issue. Royce has indicated that the Clans will probably become in-town... if that's the case (which is as certain as Royce's typical answers), then Arthe Dale is a shoe-in for being in-town. Greetings fellow Olvi, I just returned to Arthe Dale from my hunting expedition on Aesry Surlaenis, and find myself with a few days to relax and be social before heading up to Riverhaven to explore some mysteries at Dunshade Manor. Bumped into Caltrop already. Introduced him to Baearholt's, home of a most excellent variety of food and drink, priced right, and close enough to stumble home! Hanala, are you out there? Surely Esuin would understand your desire to visit and make offerings at Glythtide's shrine (then take the long way back). If anyone would like to tip back a few, light one up, scarf a few tarts, and share some tall tales or songs, I'll be haunting Arthe Dale and the Arthe Hollow Inn. Or, Glythtide forbid, you actually have a serious Olvi issue or concern, I'll try to act all Thainly and do what I can. I don't have the time or energy right now to put together anything fancy, so don't expect games, contests, or whatever. Just a little halfling socializing! >>Hanala was just an awesome rp experience.<< Thank you! I've tried my hand at quite a few faces in the realms and I must admit, the Halfling cleric has proved to be the most fun so far. >>Caltrop and Hanala, if you need advice on circling, gaining ranks, or mechanics in general<< I'd have to say on my list, Circling is far down there. I've gone that route with other bodies in the realms and it just seems to sap the fun. As for Hanala, she can't figure out how to have time to circle with all her studing on how to hide a hangover, and her pursuit of said hangovers. Player of Hanala Sarnia That being said, >>I would love ta meet ya Hanala! Bein a cleric of Glythtide meself an all, we gots loads in common. Soon as I get back northward (which should be in about a week) I'll be keepin an eye out fer ya.<< Ah! Another that has seen the light! His Favor is grand, and constantly in pursuit of it, I am. I would be honored to meet with you, and I'm quite sure Esuin won't make me sneak out for this one! I shall keep an eye out for you also, the eye that isn't on my ale! Hehe, Mykk forgot to mention one thing Hanala... I can show you how to circle while still being RP intensive <g> Lately I haven't been RPing much, but then again I haven't been playing much either... But I like to consider myself one of the elitest when it comes to RPing in this game, especially when it comes to halflings. And seeing how Rascalt was a cleric for a time, he can teach ya how to hide that hangover too... He can also teach ya how to handle an unrully dead folk, but that's just the inherit evil in him <cackles> If your ever around Arthe Dale and I'm actually on and not playing Asheron's Call or Dark Ages of Camelot, just tap me on the shoulder and I'd be more then happy to help you with anything, especially rping.

Since everyone wants to help... What does discipline do for learning skills??? And whats a good ratio for int, wis, and disc???? -Caltrop, ever anxious Reply |

Discipline is an essential stat for the reason that it seems to factor in to almost everything. If you want to know what ratio to get, it really is up in the air. You should ask yourself: Do I want to have big pools of field exp? Do I want to absorb fast? Do I want somewhere in between? Most hunters I know like to absorb fast because if they have a bunch of stuff sitting in a big pool when the die, it kinda sucks to be them. As an empath, I like having big pools so I can stuff myself with lore and magic without having to muck up my head. Some people factor in our racial pros and cons, some don't. You really have to tweak around your mentals to see what you like best. Remember, we get penalties to discipline and wisdom, so you may want to take that into account when spending tdp's. I wasn't there to witness, but the moment I saw Taffei enter I knew she'd win... If its singing about booze, halflings will always win... now if its drinking booze, dwarves might put up a fight.. but they are often too drunk to ever sing about it, plus they'd have to put down their ale to do it.

>>plus they'd have to put down their ale to do it. not necessarily... as seen in the feastery in Marachek's Oak ... "Taffei raises her mug and sloshes ale everywhere as she uses it to keep the beat." I was singin at the time. And at the end of me song... "Taffei bounces and dances around in a circle, sloshing ale as she goes." But then again... would a dwarf be able ta stand all that sloshin? I guess yer right. *snicker* A dwarf would have ta put their ale down ta do it. Taffei ~ Overburdened from all the free tarts at the contest (g) Reply |

What I'm gonna do is list the racial stats for those Olvi that don't know what they are. THEN, what I'm gonna do is use the equations I have for figuring up TDP costs and show you where you can place each stat without ever spending more than 100 TDPs to train said stat. That make sense? Sure hope so. ~~ Racial Stats ~~ Str +2 Ref -1 Agil -2 Chr .0 Dis +1 Wis +1 Int .0 Sta -1 A negative number means that it costs _less_ to raise this ability with training, while a positive one means that it is more difficult to gain further attributes in that area. In other words, a -2 means it's very easy and takes less time (fewer TDPs) to train in that attribute. A +2 means that it's very difficult for that race to train in that attribute. ~~ TDP Figures ~~ Str - 25 Ref - 41 Agil - 51 Chr - 34 Dis - 29 Wis - 29 Int - 34 Sta - 41 Now what the TDP stuff means is this. Say you wanna go from 20 to 21 in a stat. Then it'll cost you say 89 TDPs to move up. But each of the numbers I have listed above will take you to that level of training without EVER spending more than 100 TDPs to move up once notch. Zelaide Was inputtin' this all into my computer from my notebook and thought I'd share. Read the other race folders for the same info on each race if yer interested. Reply |

Oh, so the higher a single stat is the more TDP's it costs to train it? Does the guildleader give you more TDP's as you get higher? Cause I rarely get enough to train more than one stat when I level. What happens at say... 20th? -Drifter Caltrop P.s. Where do you get cloudberry tarts???!!?? Reply |

As I understand it (and I usually don't -grin) TDP cost of raising a stat is determined by muliplying your current rank by your racial cost. Your racial cost is found on that chart with all the +'s and -'s on it. If it's a 0 then the cost is 3 TDPs per rank, and each number either side of 0 adds or subtracts 0.5 TDPs. (The 0.5 will be rounded off of the total since we can't spend half a TDP) Therefore, (for example) since a halfling has a -2 for Agility, the racial cost will be 2, because 3-(0.5x2)=2 And the racial cost of discipline (it is a +1 for us) would be 3.5 because 3+(0.5x1)=3.5 Each time you buy a rank for a particular stat you can now multiply the racial cost by the rank you are at. Say I have 7 in Agility. I would multiply the racial cost for agility (2, see above) times the 7 ranks I have. 2x7=14. My next rank of agility will cost 14 TDPs. Taffei ~ Holy Tarts! I have a splittin headache now! Hope this helps. Reply |

At 20th circle you get 100 plus your circle in TDPs... YOu also get a tdp for every 200 ranks in a skill group.

I also belive the GMs hee hee. It all comes down to the person who may or not be a higher circle than Dritzfury has no inkling to want the attention so it is best that people belive that Dritz is the highest. First of all he enjoys it. (been there, done that for a few years...it got old) Second, noone bugs anyone but him... no more constant familiars coming to ask things, noone challenging ya just to say they tried... noone sending out constant locates just to see whats up and what ya doing, no invites to weddings just because they want ya there fer a status symbol. Thirdly, blowing your own horn all the time and patting yourself on the back only gets you sore lips and a hurt arm. (Hey, I have chicks to kiss and hug, unlike Soim who has nufin but herself!) Its sooo funny.....the differance being percieved as not number one vs. being percieved as number one. On another note I belive I have always been 4 circles above Burlock....evan when we was lil' baby rangers. Other than that my circle is over 50th less than 90th. Snare Reply |

Greetings, Was checking out the new beta website for DR, and of course peeked at anything Olvi-related. While this folder isn't the place for beta website feedback, I thought I'd throw some observations out for possible discussion. Race Pictures: We've got 2 great race pictures, imo. I remember some discussion they were wearing footwear; looks to me like a form of stockings that still leaves the feet open on the sides and bottom. Description: Seems right on, except for the following quote, which I find slightly off: "What they lack in strength and stamina they make up for in physical agility." Given our bonus to stamina, I'd hardly say we're lacking :-) Guild breakdown: Thieves 60% (who knew? heh) Rangers 13% Warrior Mages 10% (I'm a little surprised) Empaths 6% (as mouthy, err, vocal, as they are, i figured more) Moon Mages 3% (if they say so) Bard 3% (figured higher) Traders 3% Clerics <1% (huh. quality over quantity i guess) Barbs <1% Paladins <1% (go Eadain) Geography: I've heard some concerns about the new maps already. Are these official? I imagined Arthe Dale with more rolling hills and woods; they're showing us in a forest backed into a mountain side. And that with a good wind, the Dwarves could spit from Stone Clan and hit the Arthe Hollow Inn ;-) I always did kinda view Stone Clan as our defacto protectors/allies; their location on this new map would suggest this even more. Something else I found more pronounced, and which I kind of like, is our access to the eastern oceans. It's something I noticed from the old maps, and incorporated into my rp from time to time. I know our race has some naval personages in it. It also would increase our position of self-sufficiency, as now we have agriculture AND the potential for our own port. Kind of a backdoor should the Crossing Harbor be inassessable for whatever reason. Or should the aforementioned 60% have any trading, business, travelling etc. to do that they wouldn't want observed ;-) "Indigenous Creatures: crypt fiend and rock troll". Crypt fiend is debatable imo. If you're going to include the northeast wilds, might as well include wood trolls etc. Still, I'd associate them with Crossing. Rock trolls are just plain Kaerna (which lists as it's indigenous creatures as "none", and I'll actually use the "bug" link on the website to note it. "Some famous Halflings in history: Towin Sweetbreath, Paeldryth, Ka'len the Sea Drake, Daffleberry Tanglefoot." Any historians out there want to give us a lesson on who these people are? First what I have at me fingertips: Ka'len the Sea Drake. According to the book "Human Histories" : Ka'len -- called the Sea Drake -- was the master of the Dolefaren, a great ship of war. Ka'len himself was a spunky Halfling with a massive mop of black hair and one eye lost from past battles. Dolefaren has been identified over time to be an Old Gamgweth word for 'Victory'. Ka'len was active in the Resistance Wars, when the Seven Star Empire was just beginning to fall. A master of ambush on the sea, Ka'len both boarded and rammed ships, although it is said he used that last only when the first was not possible (some say out of pity for the enemy, some say because an intact ship is worth more than a sinking one, I am partial to believe it was both). Ka'len was called a pirate and a friend by Lanival in the early wars. As Lanival's right hand maritime warlord, Ka'len supported the great wizard in his tireless work to split the Empire into the five Realms. Ka'len ultimately met his end in the straits of the Segoltha Sea, narrowed in by five enemy Elven warcraft. Although he carried two of the ships with him, he and the Dolefaren sunk in the icy sea, forever lost, to Lanival's sorrow. And according to the latest official timeline: "232 BL --Ka'len dies in an ambush " I'm sure everyone has noticed when they check the time (I know, why should Olvi care what time it is, unless they be waitin fer the bar ta open ~ heh) one of the realms time periods is named after this great halfling. "You were born on the 24th day of the 2nd month of Ka'len the Sea Drake in the year of the Silver Unicorn" ========== As for Daffleberry Tanglefoot... is he/she related to the Arthe Dale Tanglefoots? I KNOW I have heard the name Sweetbreath somewhere... gona dig fer that bit of info. But I must admit, Paeldryth is a new name to me. Anyone else have any info? The spell will throw your opponent out of melee with you, and possibly damage your enemy, depending on the power and accuracy of the attack. Many mages believe that the spirit of Paeldryth watches those who use his spell, and will aid those in dire straits. It can be targetted." They missed a couple of notable Olvi too: Deeder Jonathan, halfling alchemist, seer and moon mage Thistle Walksweaving, one of the four who hunted the Blackfire Cabal Elsbette Reply |

And don't forget the book publisher Balint Broadspan. From "A Brief History of Alchemy": * Balint Broadspan. Halfling book publisher renowned for his cheap editions, marketing abilities, and summaries of complicated texts. At some time in his middle years Broadspan received a state contract to collate and publish a new series of magical texts for Asemath Academy. He developed a personal interest in these, and soon progressed from publisher to dedicated alchemist. Broadspan's personal contribution to alchemy was slim but telling. One volume in his Asemath series focused upon a debate over the resource consumption of 3 creature types (living, metallic constructs, elemental beings). "Why use up resources to create something permanent when you only want to kill temporarily?" Broadspan wrote in a brief forward. "Why not just fake it like I do when I toss a magical but fictitious wet rag down some snobbish Elothian's back?" This single remark sparked a new debate on the subject of magical glamouri, and ultimately led to the development of illusory creatures. -ZB Reply |

Another notable Olvi from history would be Borrugar Steadfoot. You can read about him in "Profiles in Magic, Volume Eight". I've included a short bit of it below: "This installment of our ongoing series details the life and times of Borrugar Steadfoot, the Merchant Magician. It is hoped that the story of his triumphs and untimely death serve as a guide and warning to young mages, as they face their own challenges in apprenticeship. "Bourrugar Steadfoot, while not as well known as some of his contemporaries in the turbulant decades just after the fall of the Empire, was nonetheless a luminary of the magical world. Known as "the merchant magician", Steadfoot was an unusually shrewd and calculating olvi, concealing his brilliant strategic mind behind a cheerful and sometimes frivolous demeanor: more than one trader-baron found himself utterly cleaned out in a deal with him, after being tricked into underestimating the bubbly halfling." Another snippet: "The key to his undoing was an ongoing obsession with a grimoire of pre-Imperial sorcery, the infernal tome known to scholars as the "Arte of the Black Cockatrice"." The information in the book was later used in the creating of the Y'Shai. Reply |

Paeldryth was not a Halfling, he was a Human. However he helped the people of Riverhaven who sent a Halfling boy to Paeldryth, to ask him for his help. I also noticed something else kinda interesting. I read a book in Crossing Library called The Sea Drake. The Sea Drake was a historic Halfling named Ka'len (can't recall the last name). And I wanted to mention that Sallador the head cheese of the pirates owns a ship named the Sea Drake. Isn't this lil Shark Clan sort of biased to anyone other than Humans. Then why have a ship named after a famous Halfling? Could this be a clue to something? Who knows! Griffina Reply |

This thread went downhill in a hurry. Here's an idea. Gnome grumblings could go back in the Gnome folder. Rascalt's ongoing spewing of bitterness could go in Talk to Simutronics, or in this particular case, Elanthian History. And Cadaya's eternal battle with Rascalt could go into Conflicts. And let the Halfling folder get back to some of the best tidbits of Olvi trivia and history I've heard in a long time. I genuinely found his post to be funny. I'm not sure how that qualifies as a battle, but lest there be any misconceptions -- I don't have any problems with Rascalt or any other player of DR. You're free to think I'm out to get some people or that I'm holding grudges, but that's really pure nonsense. Really, I don't have the *time* to "eternally battle" any players; most of my free time goes toward a job with little pay except the satisfaction of seeing happy players. All that said, I have somewhat of a liking for history, and I was rather enjoying the conversation, so please do get back to it. Sans not-so-subtle jabs at GMs we don't like, please. :) Reply |

Halfling Fanatic, I'm always up for hunting with my fellow Olvi! I think the problem you will find with gathering an army will be, as others mentioned, skill level. I've made inquiries in the past to forming a counter-invasion battle group; we just don't have the firepower. I dare say our most lethal fighters would be the higher level Thieves. I don't see them joining the "regulars", but I could see themselves forming an Olvi Thieves group. I've also proposed to several Olvi a ranged weapons group. During an invasion, the group leader would move into the occupied zone, everyone in the group fires, then the leader backs out. Reload and repeat. Problem again is every time I've tried to fire my crossbow at an invasion critter by running in and firing, I miss. I still think an Olvi crossbow unit has potential though! (Including other bowmen, I just think the crossbow idea is cool.) Can you imagine Hegemonic telling the Dwarven troops, Hold 'em men! An Olvi crossbow unit 10 strong is approaching our enemy from the rear! The most Olvi I've hunted with at one time was a group of 4: Prala, Griffina, Fizzia, and Mykk. And yes, it was a VERY good time. If you should get an army put together, Mr. Halfling Fanatic with no name <g>, I'd be happy to assist. On a hunting mission, I personally can take latamis and gargoyles solo. In an invasion, I'd be more likely to help in a support role (communications, J&K), and I'm pretty sure I could recruit some empaths and clerics. Never had luck finding an Olvi moon mage who'd be willing to join an invasion support team who could gate though. --aka Mykk Reply |

Starting the afternoon of Monday 10/8, Olvi might find it advantageous to visit Arthe Dale through out the week. Race week is off to a roaring start with Olvi day! (and some other race day too...) In Arthe Dale you will find a mini festival in the Berry Knolls area, where Bungles has set up and invited a few friends to sell their wares. Changes to smoke images are news too, with Olvi able to pick which image to exhale instead of random images. Use exhale help or exhale list to see the list of shape available to you. (syntax is exhale line <shape name>, and you must type the full shape name) If you don't see a list then you aren't an Olvi. There will be some other Olvi related items coming out soon, so keep your eyes open. GM Fial Reply |

One more post before I hit the road <g>. I popped ingame and lo and behold, bumped into Mingold, Taffei, Taelina, and Fial! I really need to run, but thought I'd post what I've found out so far: All Olvi should try EXHALE HELP. We have new smoke shapes. Contest winners might have access to their's only, might be guild-related, might be holiday-related, and we might be able to teach each other. Who knows? Other races even? Lots to find out! Bungles has opened his house to the populace. There is a gate in Berry Knolls. Follow the trail of people <g>. It's kind of on the northwestern corner. Bungles had freckles? Could be just Bungles, but I have my theories... Gotta go, have fun everyone--buy lots of footbrushes! --aka Mykk Reply |

<<Hope everyone is enjoying the mini-fest! GM Morzy>> I'm enjoying it a LOT, Morzy. There's sooo much to like, but of course some of those knickers are phenominal, and just even having an "Olvi" armor is awesome. Then to get all the amazing choices for the armor, I pretty much want to buy them all. The color and pattern combinations on all the clothing. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say (for now, i'll brown-nose more later, heh) I'm very impressed. The new smoking enhancement I'm guessing was Fial's doing--nice nice nice. Some of the new shapes are oddly morbid (especially for otherwise cheerful Olvi), and I'm not sure our Dwarven friends will appreciate the fleas though. Having the armor say Olvi and not "halfling" was a nice touch. There is a "knickers-verb" about rocking back and forth on our heels with our thumbs tucked in our pockets or something like that. I could see the suspenders having a similar verb, even if that was it's only verb. Love it, thanks guys, --aka Mykk ps. I'm sure the Realms would love October to end with a BIG festival, but after this "mini" fest, I won't have any money left! Reply |

I like the new smoking system, but it's got a minor bug. If you mistype, or get syntax wrong or whatever and the Usage message pops up, it treats it as though you exhaled, even though there was no messaging. >inhale cig You inhale the smoke from your burning cigarillo deeply. > a thin Purple Lion cigarillo flutters slightly. a thin Purple Lion cigarillo flutters slightly. >exhale oopsie! Usage: EXHALE or Usage: EXHALE (Rings|Balls|Lines) Usage: EXHALE (<player>|<creature>) Available smoke images for halflings: (usage: exhale line <shape name>) deer dragon rabbit pixie kitten troll horse paladin whip cloak stump fleas daisies unicorn rams bandit ship grave fish >exhale line pixie You need to have inhaled some smoke to do that! > Also, these cigarillos can't be smoked like pipes and cigars. >smoke cig You can't smoke that. -ZB Reply |

I'll look in to the oopsie part, that has been around for a while, and I didn't get around to fixing it this time. This is a minor update to the smoking system, not the one I talked about earlier. I'll look at the smoke cigarillo too. When I get the new smoke shapes in you will be able to learn and teach them to other Olvi and teach simple ones to other races as well. Some of the current ones will be the base for more complex images. Like the tombstone, you will be able to place it on some things or dead critters or players, and write their name on it in smoke. Though that is just an example. Winners of the image contest can exhale their shapes, though in a simple form. When it comes time, they will have more complex versions and be able to teach them to other Olvi. All the shapes were existing random ones, except for the ship, fish and grave. I added those at the last minute, so the dwarf one was existing already. Images like that present the Olvi point of view of the world and humor is a part of that. And you have the choice now of which shapes you use and don't use. The grave is morbid, yes, but can be used in humorous ways too. That is why it is there. There are more things that will be coming out for Olvi in the next few months, the first of which, today the elderly halfling, Wooley Tanglefoot has returned to Arthe Dale, and has <censored> him. Other Halfling communities are not forgotten, so things will be happening in those places as well. Well I ramble on too much, but I'll keep you updated. Olvi Fial Reply |

Just a small idea that popped into my head... Since I'm sure many of us Olvi might want a mount of some kind, and many of us wouldn't want to settle for a pony... I had a discussion with a few friends of the smaller races. Couple of different ideas stumbled into our heads, smaller mounts would be incapable of combat, but much faster and/or agile... things like elk, ostriches (or any other large flightless birds), crocs, wolves, donkeys, and even the possibility of smaller races hopping on the shoulders of larger ones (if allowed of course) were mentioned. I thought I'd ask the short community at large what they thought, for a few ideas that I'm sure the GM's could either use (or get a good laugh at), and see where it went. Brotha Cassidan Reply |

[The Crossing, Northeast Customs] Here stands the Northeast Gate, a rather simple affair of pointed logs topped with iron barbs set into the earthen framework of the town walls. Although there is a fair amount of traffic here, the Customs Officers seem rather bored, probably because the Northeastern segment of the Eastern Tier offers very little in the way of commerce, hence few taxes, hence even fewer bribes. You also see a winding trail. A large furry brown and white dog, wearing a saddle and a keg just arrived dragging the body of Taffei. Sounds good, but the system as it's implemented requires lots of training that doesn't seem likely to cross over between mounts. For example, do you think that learning to ride a horse is just the same as riding an ostrich (e.g. basic riding lessons)? Would the process of a Ranger training a crocodile to tolerate magic being cast by its rider be the same as how he trains a horse? Those are your extreme examples. Look at donkeys. Have you ever heard of a donkey being ridden into combat or jousting? They make good pack animals, but they're too stubborn to be reliable in heated situations I'm thoroughly amused by the prospect of riding an ostrich (Joust still is one of my favorite old-school arcade games), but speaking IC, I don't see how it could work. -ZB Reply |

Taffleberry bushes are low growing with deep green glossy leaves, the berries are black. I got that in game, ages ago. Since most "black" berries are really very dark purple/blue, this is probably the case with Taffleberries. I don't imagine they grow in bunches as that's usually a grape thing and not so much a berry thing. But these last bits are pure speculation on my part. Reply |

When I was growing up we used to have raspberries in the back yard, and we had a woods behind us <which later got torn down and turned into yet another suburban housing development and shopping mall--frown>, that had blackberries, including one "bush" that was more tree-like in nature--it was quite tall. So I would figure that taffleberries, being favored by altitudinally-challenged folks like halflings, would be closer to raspberries than blackberries, although they could indeed be purple. -me- Reply |

I know it might be a stretch to try and motivate this bunch into gathering somewhere..he he, but i'm gonna try. There's a new Olvi that's shown up in Lang for the past 3 days. Her name is Gansie and she's a 6 year old girl that wanders up here everyday after her mother goes to work. You see Gansie Galoshers, a Halfling Commoner. She has ale-brown eyes. Her brunette hair is shoulder length and thick, and is worn unkempt. She has rosy skin. She is a tartsnatcher for a Halfling. She is in good shape. She is holding a pan in her right hand and a blueberry frog-shaped lollipop in her left. She is wearing a tie, a bright red woolen hat with furry earflaps, a linen blouse, some shamrock polka-dot overalls, a berry-stained shoulder bag, a small snapdragon ring, a white velvet ribbon, a red enameled apple pin with a tiny emerald chip leaf and a shamrock wool sweater. I'm not sure if she is a player of a GM...and frankly, it doesn't matter. This is the best display of inginuity and RPing that i've seen in a very very long time. It would be nice if some more Olvi came up here to help me and Yarah keep her company. Also...she seems to know ALOT about Arthe and many other things, in case you have any questions. Halflings are also suggested as being less adept at magic in the official documentation. From the way may skills have progressed (and this may just be me), I tend to agree. I've also heard rumors that we are not good swimmers, and have penalties doing it, but again, I am not practiced enough to make a claim that we are or are not. Shaunn Reply |

that is probably due to lower strength for most Olvi. There is a running Theory that 1 point of strength can act as 10 skill points of Swim. So in a quick comparison say a Olvi with 20 STR and 200 swim may only swim as well as a Tog with 150 swim and 25 swim... I think the numbers or abit off myself but the principle has some truths to it. Strength helps swimming alot and most Olvi don't train Strength to hard. Alot of folks compare there RT for a swim or success thereoff rank for rank but don't factor in Strength differances... Well thats my input on it for today, From the Buffest biggest Olvi in the land... 38 STR, 40 STA Shadow Judge Reply |

theres definately a strength factor for swimming. case in point, i've taken 2 commoner newbies with 0 swimming -- a halfling, and a tog, with no encumbrance, to a certain location to do a little swimming. and the tog did better than the halfling. -me- Reply |

Thanks Soim--of course I would ask first. I did get the recent charts from the combat boards, but I've been stalking your posts longer than that <g> I particularly like the one where you list out your entire ex-Naval officer look descriptions. But of course the charts are invaluable. Griffina, I have a good start on a "Soim's Stats" page built; let me go home for lunch today and link it to the main site (was just waiting Soim's permission). I think the idea of getting history and famous people help from the boards is a great idea! I just don't think I'd be able to keep up. In the meantime, I'll keep plodding along every night. I've already found out a ton of cool stuff though. Another thought I had was to take my newfound information and do a trivia contest? But all the answers would be on my site. Is that a bad thing? Should I just post the neat stuff here? Should I just push people to my site? I don't do it for the traffic you know. Post back or drop me an email, Reply |

Shadow Judge ******* ******* A older post I use to find very usefull to know about Category: Clerics -- The Cleric's Altar Topic: General Discussions Author: First of Hodierna (LOREN) Posted: Jul 21, 1998 03:11:15 I attended several seminars, and will cover each subject as I can. First, I attended Zoha's combat seminar, "How to Avoid Critical Hits". What I learned reinforces much that we were learning already. Combat has two major factors. He called them Offensive Force (OF) and Evasion Defense Factor (EDF). We are hit when the attack's OF exceeds the defender's modified EDF. We are damaged when the attack's OF exceeds the modified EDF by an amount greater than can be handled by armor absorption, parry block, shield block, and evasion. Every weapon has a maximum damage potential. This maximum damage potential does not change. Actual damage can be modified by strength, which can double the damage at most; By agility, by weapon skill, and by Luck. Zoha crits really aren't. In the Luck factor, which may or may not modify an attack, there are 'open rolls'. The sort of attack system where, say, if you roll a 6, then you get to roll again. If you roll another six, you roll again, ad infinitum. Zoha said that the open rolls can go on for infinity, theoretically, but that they'd never tracked one that went past four rolls. Even so, that open roll can multiply damage by a factor of four or more. Crits can occur on any attack that does damage. Any attack. But, there is a ramped chance of a crit - they are much more likely to occur as OF exceeds EDF. Those massive open rolls, which can work for players as well as monsters, will give the really interesting crits. Oh, as an aside - the open rolls are also the factor in charge of those random long roundtimes. It is the Luck factor again. Stats and skills have nothing to do with it. <SHEN's NOTE: he's refering to the random roundtimes not the Luck Factor> Combat survival is a matter of maximizing your EDF at all times. Zoha stated what we've learned - Evasion skill is Life. He recommended, openly, that no matter how bad you are at evasion, always, always, maintain Evasion Stance at 100%, because Evasion ranks are just not comparable to Parry and Shield skill. Evasion is the only skill that determines the positive value of the EDF. Just about everything modifies EDF downward. Physical Encumbrance (Load), Armor Encumbrance, Fatigue, Carried Shield, Vitality state, Balance, and Position. EDF is also modified by your Last Action. Last Action is very important. It can change your Balance, Position, and EDF by as much as 80%, apparently. Last Action is the last thing you did before your opponent launched their attack - Parry command, Dodge command, slice, lunge, fall over. Zoha stated as a fact that if you know that the attacker will get to hit you before your next action, the best thing you can do is DODGE. The dodge command is the only last action that lets you generate your maximum EDF. It does have a maneuver penalty, and will change your balance, but is the most effective, most defensive Last Action. PARRY has a negative modifier to EDF when you cannot block fully. Remember, this was a seminar on how to avoid critical hits - how to make sure you don't take the big ones. For priests, what we determined is that the new trend is correct. Priests should not be in the heavier armors. Not ever. There is a transition point for every character class and every armor, except Paladins and Barbarians, where the amount of damage the armor can absorb is no longer worth the negative modifier to EDF. Armor absorbs a fixed maximum, and as you advance out past the critters that do damage under this maximum, you will begin to take harder and harder hits with your heavily-penalized EDF. This is the Gospel Truth. Plate is great when you are fighting things that cannot generate enough OF to get past your armor absorption, but past this point, you can't afford the maneuver penalty. Zoha was very clear on this. Belcor was sitting beside him nodding as well. I'm dusting off my Light Chain ranks. Again, ranks of Shield and Parry just don't compare to Evasion at all. Skill is much more important than stats. Training your reflex up to a nice average level is fine, no need to go overboard if you keep your Evasion skill advancing. But, someone with ungodly Relfex and Evasion is the best defensive hunter around. High-ranking Paladins are going to be pretty close to untouchable aside from the open rolls, if the new critters don't keep up. The open rolls aren't going to go away. They are supposed to keep folks from being 100% invincible to critter they can still learn from. The Luck factor represents entropy - No matter how good you are, you will make a mistake, slip on a stone, stab yourself, if you fight long enough. It's the "There are no old, bold clerics" effect. With the open rolls, something that shouldn't ever get past your armor can occasionally kill you. This is why Rats have kills on their tally, even though, as Zoha said, they can't generate enough OF to kill anything. Note the term LUCK factor associated with the 'open rolls' over and over again. Zoha says there are no worthless stats...and somewhere around here I've got notes indicating Zoha or Trev stating directly in a seminar that charisma impacts luck. I've known players who've done some research (though I haven't bothered to verify it). But I suppose that means nothing too, so I'm done. I'm open to rebuttal with current DATA only, just saying it ain't so isn't going to cut it with me. Bottom line things will change as the game goes along, and GM Damissak has indicated his position. I'm satisfied. I am putting togther a book of Olvi sayings, proverbs, and wisdoms. There are a few already in use, but I would like to see a larger collection. So I am holding a contest on Olvi Proverbs. The rules are simple. You must have a halfling character as of December 22, 2001. No proverb, saying or wisdom can be longer than 8 lines of 40 characters. It must be something in character of the Olvi (halfling) race of Dragonrealms. Any entry that references player or GM characters will be disqualified. Deadline for entries is Sunday, Febraury 3, 2002. Any entries sent after this date will not be considered for the contest. All entries become property of Simutronics Corp. Entries that are disqualfied for the contest still may be used. Send entries to: dr-fial@play.net Put "Olvi Proverbs" in the subject line of the email. Please include your Halfling character name and account name in the body of the text. Do not send attachments. You can send more than one entry at a time. Prizes are as follows: The top 3 entries will receive their own personalized copy of the proverbs book. First place will also receive three alterations for the Olvi character. Or one custom verbed item. These are fluff alterations, no stat changes on items. Second place will also receive one alteration for the Olvi character. If you have any questions, please post them here. Good Luck! GM Fial Reply |

I've been skimming through the history of Elanthia and noticed that most cities and groups came from clans and such. I don't recall much about a halfling clan though. So I thought it's high time we have one. Being that halflings are pretty much a close net group and we get along well in game, maybe we can make something unoffical. I was thinking of setting up an simple government, where as there is one position for each guild. Ie halfling paladin would be the sherif, halfling trader would be the treasurer, halfling barb would be the general, halfling moonmage would be the mayor maybe or some kinda advisor ect.. Canadits should be of fair stature in thier guild maybe or dedicated enough. If anything it'd be fun jsut to get us togather. HAve some fun RPing and networking every one so we can support eachother with our individual talents. If any one is interested or have any ideas give a shout. Maybe we can pull it togather. Hi TOOLX2, You "slipped" the other day and let on who you are ;-) Closest thing to a clan I've heard of are the groups of Olvi families who ended up founding the Halfling Quarters in Riverhaven. Otherwise, so far in my travels I'm more likely to see *families*, such as the Tanglefoots in Arthe Dale or the couple influential Olvi families on Ratha whose names always escape me. I've just recently begun to delve into Olvi history, and I'm amazed at what I've uncovered just going through a couple libraries. Found a book the other day describing Arthe Dale as an idealistic democracy, which of course suits me just fine. I think your idea could work; it has in the past to various degrees. Maybe all it would take is someone with a little enthusiasm to take the lead. Not sure where the rest of the Olvi player population stands on groups and politics right now, but really all it would take is for a half dozen of you to get together and I think it could play out nicely. I'm always available to help with this or other ideas for IC Olvi-oriented groups. If you're looking for more information, happy to share what I know or point you in a direction. --aka Mykk Reply |

This is just me..and not trying to force ideas on people at all.. How I see it.. I don't envision Halflings as having Clans.. Families, yes, Townships, yes. I can see Halflings tracking their lineage back, and family being a number one priority...but then they are also devoted to the Halfling Township as a whole..the Township..which includes the intermingling of familes who've been there since the place was settled..and new families or lone Halflings who've found their way there..and had to gain the trust of the Township. I dunno...maybe pretty much the same thing as a "Clan"....but I almost see Halflings not calling it that...just because...well, their Halflings! I generally could care less who knows... Most of the stuff I work on or discuss needs a foundation of stats, skills or basic info to be told anyway. No I have no exceptional stats. I train to be a Jack of all and master of none and have held true to that. No way you can work everything and still have the most in one or two things... So I compete with myself and do not look over my shoulder wondering who will pass me in this or that... I do doubt anyone in relms has spent more on Strength yet to date than I have. Gawd I am glad I basically have it were I want it. Shadow Judge Reply |

Kinda curious, how should I train my reflexes and agility to best dodge critters in battle? I know they changed the way they work in combat recently, but I don't know how specifically. Keeping in mind I'm an empath,s o won't need attack advantage, which should I train to best dodge attacks. Shaunn Reply |

I would say APP critter your dancing with. I am sure your lore is good so you can see how critters reflex and agality stacks up to yours. giving you insight on to how advanced your dance partner is... After that I would then use the Empath Held Mana Balance spell if needed. What you need to strive for is your reflex being higher than critters agality. You don't need to worry over your Agality being as good or better than it's reflex since your not beating on it. Though if it is and you train Brawl. You should be able to circle and shove and stuff. Trying to ruin critters balance. Still overcomming it's reflex is not as important to you as Keeping your reflex as high or higher than what you dance with agality... Shadow Judge Reply |

>Hmmm, need to do something about that. >GM Fial (who already knows Olvi are the best race in Elanthia) Heh, it isn't hard to figure out what to do. Just remove the double penalty small races have with burden. As Soim pointed out, the sheer number of TDPs that must be spent to train strength to a decent level take years to acquire on their own. Add onto that the fact that you have a hard time carrying jack even though you're buff...and it seems just wrong. Also, the halfling reflex bonus doesn't even offset the evasion penalty that comes with burden. Let halflings carry more, please. How many people play gnomes as their primary character? How many people play kaldars? This is hardly rocket science. - Former Halfling who just gave up... Reply |

I have come to the desition that races like Gnomes and from these last posts Halflings are advanced player races. It's kind of like a person first time playing DR choosing teleport as soon as they can as a spell. Just cause they can get it doesn't meen they can use it for quite awhile. Alot of things in the game are like that. Just cause you got the climbing to make it up a hill doesn't mean you'll last 5 seconds against those critters. So, just cause anyone can choose to be a Halfling or Gnome doesn't mean you can play one. It takes a more advanced player to pull it off. Reply |

<<Are any halflings planning on playing DR:TF, in particular, Mykk or Soim?>> "Mmmm, soap box..." ::cranks up Dellica Office 2000:: No, I will not be playing a character in DR:TF. I will say I think no matter what side of the fence you are on, DR:TF is a win/win/win(*) situation for everyone, and I think it's yet another awesome move by a team of GMs who have really made incredible strides this past year for DR. I will also go on record as saying I do not believe DR:TF will actually work. I think some players, some of whom I respect, will try to make it work. I believe it might actually be fun... for 2-4 weeks, maybe. When everyone starts out at zero. Then when 24/7 legal scripting has time to settle in... done. Anyone who really likes to rp will "come back". Some who were the loudest saying only the true rp'ers will go to DR:TF will have "reasons" why they came back, but won't admit they were wrong. Some GMs and many players will privately laugh and think "I told you so." For the players who go over to DR:TF, I honestly hope I'm wrong, and you have a great time, form some really cool clans, and come back and tell me *I* was wrong, and "We told you so!" -aka Mykk * win/win/win= win for GMs who free up resources to contribute to Prime, win for players, as there really are two niches of players competing for the same server now, and a win for Simutronics, who look to make a little money out of it. And folks, if you forget Simu in your equations, you're not looking at the whole picture ;-) PS. Let's say there are 2 types of players, Prime vs. DR:TF, and lets say DR:TF actually works. Would the need and viability for Plat still be there? Very selfishly, I would hope DR Plat players become Prime/Premium players, and we bring that rp crowd back again. Reply |

Otherwise it would be totally and horrendously unfair to them, especially the ones that have been there since the beginning when the fees were $80.00 a month. As for Tunnels there is one but it's none to obvious and GL Dwilius would not care for random visitors. NO the city is mapped out pretty well and if your wondering on Thief Passages or shortcuts well I really wish there were. Crossing and Shard are pretty much it in that reguard. Throne city has one and the only one on Ratha is the guild Entrance. I don't really consider a entrance a passage especially when it is onlt one way... I been packin my Tobacco arround in a silver snuff box I got on a quest. It had magic dust in it to reveal RF or magic hiders. But it holds tobacco well and is only 1 stone in weight. Thats the best part. I am very weight conchious, always have been. some things in game have stupid weights that make no scense to me. Anyway I feel a tad off having smoking tobacco in a snuff box but I do like the one stone weight to it. On a funny side note I have a 10 stone small grey mouse. Now I don't consider 10 stones small or mouse size. Dern thing is 1 pound. A one pound mouse is a meal and a half. MY towel I got frustrated on packing was and is 20 stones. NOw who really needs a 2 pound towel. Sometimes I woulder who decides weight of items. My Tanning shears are 10 stones as well. Talk about one heavy duty set of shears. Woops on a tangent. GUess it shows I been on a item diet to loose extra stones... Shadow Judge Reply |

I find it a complete afront to Olvidom that I am not listed on the Arthe Dale site. Being most likely the first Olvi to make the Trader Scrolls very soon I feel I should be somewhat known. Umatos Avtoma. Reply |

<<I am not listed on the Arthe Dale site. --Umatos>> Found out last night there is an Olvi Empath on the Scroll that Shaunn and Mingold haven't heard of before (still don't know the name myself, maybe I know him or her, but doubtful if those two didn't). Big world out there ;-) Reply |

Hey Mykk, Are you going to be including Olvi from The Fallen on there as well? If you are, I'll email you the info for my shorter version. Heh, I'd post it, but I don't want people with grudges going after the little guy. ~Banik and ??? Reply |

<<Olvi from The Fallen>> Hi Banik, Never thought about it. Sure, I don't see why not, except that I would separate Plat, Prime, and Fallen into 3 lists. If you want to email me the basics of a Fallen page, Banik, I'll put it right up. Try to give me at least a few Olvi names, preferably with "looks", otherwise you'll be the only name on the list. Also, if there's any Olvi news worth mentioning, any Olvi on the infamy lists, that kind of thing. If anybody wants to do that for Plat, sounds good too. I don't see myself playing outside of Prime, so the focus of the website isn't likely to change, just so long as you guys can deal with that. Reply |

Was digging around my logs tonight and found this description, I like it a lot: Artisan Bungles Bunglefoot, a Halfling Craftsman. He has mischief-filled black eyes, tufts of thinning white hair spiked at odd angles, and a spattering of freckles across the bridge of his nose. He is elderly for a Halfling. He is in good shape. He is holding a chocolate chip cookie in his right hand. He is wearing some black and yellow weepers, a kyanite gwethdesuan, a bright orange wicker sewing basket, an oversized linen shirt with loose sleeves, a pair of baggy knickers with berry-stained pockets and wide suspenders, a colorful tart pouch made of bright patches of garish fabric swatches mottled with dried taffelberry stains and a jadeite gwethdesuan. Amazing look. But I also noticed his age is "Elderly". Something we can ::wry smile:: look forward to someday? I would think given our lifespans, elderly is out of reach of the player populous, but still fun to see. --"Daydreamer" Mykk Reply |

I have noticed that even though I am a daydreamer that I still appear as young to other races instead of in my prime. Anyone know when we look prime to other people? Umatos Reply |

As some of you know, our newest Olvi couple Eadain and Lindariel are expecting twins next week, and Kendaskie, Fizzia and myself are going to join those two in a couple nights for a baby shower. We'll be meeting at the pier/swimming hole in the northeast of Arthe Dale at 8pm eastern time this Friday, 4/5/02. Anyone who feels like stopping by to say hi to the very pregnant Lindariel is welcome. We'll have plenty to eat and drink. --Mykk Dalys, Thain Reply |

Greetings, I have been playing my wonderful olvi for a few weeks. Still working a bit more on his RP background and stuff. He isn't the normal type I suppose, gonna make him a bit more serious, but with avid reason. Nevertheless my point of my post. Is there any sort of platinum community out there? Heh, would like to gether round, make some friends, things like that. Would appreciate any feedback the platinum people have, I'm a poor wittle olvi, but I'm sure I could come up with something for gatherees. Thanks. - Q, Warlock of the Forest(hrms, gota work on tag line....) Reply |

Well.. the halfling community in Plat is rather small.. only a handfull, really. Off the top of my head, I can think of one Ranger, one War Mage, two Thieves, and.. if this is Qredulous, you make number five.

Yes, that is I, Qredulius though, but he goes by Q all the same. 6 people huh? or 7... I lost count. I suppose if the 6 are all loners ok, but always figured 2 was better then 1. Thanks for the feedback. *wanders back into his woods to swim some more* Q, Harawep's Forester(hrms, still need a better one) Reply |

You know, Kendaskie, Fizzia, Eadain, and Lindariel, you could post too and not make it look like I'm the only one who posts ;-) The four Olvi named above, our neighbor Bungles, myself, and the human Aruna enjoyed a nighttime party/baby shower for Lindariel. Six Olvi in one place was pretty cool, even if we did have to talk Commen for Aruna's sake <g>. The summertime weather was perfect, and I think we all enjoyed ourselves. A couple surprise gifts for the mother and father-to-be were appreciated too, I'm sure. Then... Lindariel surprised us by going into labor. So after a couple of pretty intense hours, and the help of the Elothean Empath Katyen, we are able to welcome the twins, Edewin Fitzeadain, and Alainia Sin'hithui, to Arthe Dale. Afterwards, Kendaskie and myself found a swing, and basked in a night that started off a laid back party, and ended in a pretty intense delivery. On a totally OOC note, Lindariel's player obviously had the delivery planned out, in, umm, great detail. It was *extremely* well done. On the other hand, not for the weak of stomach, and the whole time in Eadain's knoll I was like, "Wow, that is so well done... and I really can't believe she just "act-ed" that." Over and over. Everyone, please, no more baby birthing rp for me! lol. Once is enough for anybody. I guess that's it. Thanks everyone who participated! --aka Mykk Reply |

Okay, I'm going to post like three posts in a row, so sue me. Got a few things to go over. Second thing I'd like to post today is regarding my website, specifically in this case the "Olvi of the Realms" section. (arthedale.com) I broke the "100 barrier". Out of the 328 Olvi listed, I have at least look descriptions for 105. Includes a couple NPCs, and two of our favorite GMs, but hey, they're Olvi too ;-) I'm still going through logs and finding a bunch, but there are a couple I'm missing in particular that jump out at me. One is Soim's twin, Soin. Another is, umm, forgive me Schvartz, but I think Basgonif, right? I searched over 500Mb of logs, and I can't find a "look" for either of you. Little help? The rest of you, if your name isn't highlighted yet, and you want to post or email anything about your character, please do so. Otherwise, hang tight, I still expect to find many more in my logs. Thanks, --aka Mykk Reply |

Third post, sorry. Last night's picnic and childbirth was great fun, no doubt. But now I'm in the mood for a little hunting. Anybody feel like getting a group together? It would help if we were all more or less the same range. Personally, I don't mind hunting "down", I can always work some new armor or weapons, and make sure the younger ones live and get some good experience. Top of my range is roughly gargoyles, and would even stretch a little higher if there were a group of us. Who knows, maybe we could take down a couple ogres or something if five of us unleashed a little bow and crossbow fury on a single opponent at a time <g>. I know Shaunn the Empath would back us up, so we've got that going for us. I'll see if there is any board-interest at first, then work through in-game channels. If it looks like something I can post a time and place on, I will. Thanks, --aka Mykk Reply |

I'd be up for a hunting trip of course, although the time and day would have to work with my schedule. I love the image of a group of fierce halflings taking on a big foe. <g> And congrats to Lindariel and Eadain on their twins! I had a great time RPing with them last night.
